After the fall of the Assad regime in Syria, Israeli Defense Forces have launched aerial strikes near Damascus that they say are targeting stockpiles of chemical weapons they're worried could fall into the wrong hands. NBC News' Raf Sanchez reports.
Syria's main rebel leader has vowed to hold Assad regime officials involved in torture accountable, saying they would be named and rewards would be offered for those "involved in war crimes.", comes after he met with outgoing Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Ghazi al-Jalali, who appeared to agree to a peaceful transfer of power.
Al-Jolani's extremist past raises questions about his future role in Syria after his fighters led the rapid offensive that toppled Israel said its troops were seizing the buffer zone in the occupied Golan Heights, launching a ground assault and airstrikes which it said was temporary and precautionary. Qatar condemned the move and the United Nations called it a breach of a 1974 agreement.where civil defense workers said they found no evidence of detainees held underground. But many Syrians who disappeared under Assad emerged to reunite with their loved ones, while others still remain missing.
“We will pursue war criminals and seek their extradition from the countries they have fled to, so they may receive their just punishment,” he said in a statement released by the HTS general command.
