The singer is open about her battle with the incurable condition
With the colder weather coming in, you might notice that you're beginning to feel more unwell than usual. While this might be due to a number of reasons including infections or sleep deprivation, it could be issues to do with your immune system.
If it is left untreated, there could be damage to the brain, kidneys, heart and lungs. The Mirror reports that lupus is six times more common in women than men usually between the ages of 20 and 50. "Treatment includes nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, steroids and immunosuppressants". American singer Selena Gomez suffers with the condition and has been open about her struggles. In 2017, she revealed she had a kidney transplant linked to her lupus.
"I would much rather be healthy and take care of myself," she said. "My medications are important, and I believe that they're what helps me."
