MISSION HILLS — A 20-year-old Sylmar woman driving a Toyota was killed and another woman was injured when their cars collided in Mission Hills, authorities said Saturday.The crash was reported about 7:15 a.m. Friday on the transition from the westbound Ronald Reagan Freeway to the southbound San Diego Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol, which updated its account of the crash.
The driver identified as Corona was taken to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Witnesses reported seeing a white work van with cardboard blocking one rear window, stopped on the shoulder, “which may have caused one of the drivers to lose control of her vehicle,” Vargas said. That van’s plate is registered to a 2005 GMC van in Pacoima, the officer said.
