Sydney Swans AFLW stars Lexi Hamilton and Paige Sheppard have accepted two-match sanctions for illicit drug possession in an incident that occurred late last year.
Two Sydney Swans women’s players have been slapped with bans for being found in possession of illicit drugs last year.
The Swans confirmed both players had accepted suspensions imposed on them from the AFL, which will see them miss two games when the 2024 competition commences in August. “Our football club has standards of behaviour that we expect all our people to live up to. This behaviour has fallen short of those standards, which is disappointing, and we are supportive of the AFL sanctions as we believe they are appropriate,” Harley said.
Sheppard expressed her remorse and apologised to the Swans family as well as her teammates, family and friends for what she described as a “mistake”.
