A huge search for a swimmer who got caught in a rip at Sydney’s Bronte Beach and went missing is set to resume early Monday morning.
Emergency services were called to the popular tourist spot on Sunday at about 7:45pm after they received reports a man was missing in the water. A large-scale search operation was launched involving a NSW Ambulance helicopter, a maritime police boat and NSW Lifesavers.Emergency crews scoured the rocks near the Bronte Bogey Hole and near the baths while others searched the choppy waters with flashlights. It is understood emergency crews will resume their search this morning.Lifesavers recently warned against swimming in the “green water” the rip creates which tends to look “inviting” to beachgoers.
"Commonly where the beach looks most inviting at Bronte is the most dangerous spot in Sydney at the moment!" the post said, published in January this year.
