Swedbank sacks CEO Birgitte Bonnesen as the fallout from the Stockholm-based bank's money-laundering scandal spreads

STOCKHOLM—Swedbank AB’s board of directors sacked Chief Executive Birgitte Bonnesen on Thursday, as the fallout from the money-laundering scandal engulfing the bank gathers steam. The Stockholm-based lender is facing a number of regulatory investigations into allegations of financial crime, following media reports that the bank laundered billions of dollars in illicit funds from Russia through its Estonian operations.
