Police in Hampden Township in Cumberland County issued a shelter-in-place order Wednesday afternoon for some residents after getting a call that an armed person was suicidal at a home there, threatening to kill everyone inside.

Officers told residents to stay away from doors and windows, raising questions and concerns from neighbors, township residents and others who saw the police response to the 1800 block of Red Spruce Lane. About 40 minutes after sending the alert to neighbors’ cell phones, police announced the incident was over and there was no emergency.
