Video posted on social media shows a number of emergency vehicles blocking the street as others arrived as well as what appeared to be heavily armed SWAT team members.
Police later said officers were investigating a domestic dispute in the 3700 block of Ruby Street when one of the subjects threatened a family member with a handgun. The family members then fled the scene, and that person barricaded in the residence.
After unsuccessful negotiation attempts for a peaceful surrender, the Northern Illinois Police Alarms System Emergency Services Team was able to take the person into custody without incident, police said.
