The Pima County Sheriff’s Department blocked roads off friday night just miles from Nancy Guthrie’s home.
/Gray News) - The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and other law enforcement agencies gathered Friday night in close proximity to Nancy Guthrie ’s home. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that investigators were “actively working a lead” in that area in connection to the Nancy Guthrie case.
The sheriff’s department told local media to gather at an East Orange Grove Road intersection approximately two miles from the 84-year-old woman’s Tucson-area property. A 13 News reporter on the scene said there was a large police presence and roads were blocked in the area by agencies that included the county sheriff’s department, FBI and local police agencies.Earlier in the day, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that new DNA samples from Nancy Guthrie’s home were sent off for testing. The samples are not from the missing 84-year-old or anyone in close contact with her, authorities said.Authorities reiterated that no one has been ruled out as a suspect and no vehicle has been identified.The sheriff’s department also confirmed that several gloves have been found during its ongoing investigation, with the closest being found around two miles from the crime scene. Pima County authorities said investigators are still following up on leads and that the new description of the suspect released by the FBI remains the focus. On Thursday, federal agents released those new details about the person seen in surveillance video at the Guthrie home and increased the reward in the case to $100,000.The FBI also said the man seen in the security video released Monday was wearing a black 25-liter Ozark Trail Hiker Pack. The Pima County Sheriff's Department shared photos of an"armed individual" in relation to the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping case.after the FBI’s forensic analysis of the doorbell camera video. Nancy Guthrie was last seen at her home in the Catalina Foothills on Jan. 31. She was reported missing the next day when she didn’t show up for church. Her disappearance triggered a large search and investigation, with the FBI and other local, state, and federal agencies helping the PCSD.
