There is an incongruity about Swansea City and their situation in the chaos of the Championship’s closing stages., but still close enough to see their name in the graphics that spell out how tight and tense it is at the wrong end of the second tier.

On the other hand, Allen will benefit from a break during the international window to prepare for the remainder of the Championship season.But if they are not, the "animal" will have to prove his legs and astute footballing brain are still in fine working order to help ensure his beloved Swansea's survival in the Championship.The 44-year-old replaces ex-Cardiff City manager Neil Harris, who quit the League One side after just 17 games in charge to take over at Millwall.

Williams said after last weekend’s win at Sunderland that he thought Rushworth would “be with us next season of course”.
