Akpeyi has solidified himself as the club's first-choice shot-stopper as Swallows negotiate their way towards survival.The Nigerian was on the bench in the recent defeat to Orlando Pirates a month ago after his registration was finally completed before being brought into the starting line-up for the 1-0 loss to Golden Arrows.
Mbanjwa has been the first choice for most of this season conceding 26 goals from 21 appearances and rings of worry rang louder in recent times after conceding 10 in the last four games that he played.With Akpeyi between the posts, Swallows have conceded one goal in two games laying bare on the table the experience factor that the 36-year-old brings.
Akpeyi trained with Swallows since September, but the club couldn’t register him due to their FIFA transfer ban which was then lifted at the end of January.
