Two of ChainsawMan's strongest characters are Makima and Power, so we spoke with their English dub voice actors SuzieYeung & SarahWiedenheft about their interpretation of the series:
Chainsaw Man has exploded in popularity recently, so Screen Rant interviewed the English voice actors for Power and Makima to ask them about their roles and opinions on the series in general.
Sarah Wiedenheft: For me, I could go two different directions. Generally, am I gonna go a little bit softer or a little bit rough. When I looked at Power, I thought she definitely would need to go more rough. Considering several things, I looked at the manga beforehand to get a reference of what this kind of a character is, and I'm like, “Okay, well!” I ultimately kept myself and my natural range, but lean a little bit more on to like the grit.
Sarah Wiedenheft: The thing that got me quickly drawn to the series is the comedy aspect of it, and how strangely relatable all of the characters are. And their degeneracy I guess. I can relate to them like intrusive thoughts basically. They are controlled intrusive thoughts as characters. They're so funny. They definitely drive a lot of the comedy aspects for everything. I think that's what's so heartfelt through all of the really hard and difficult scenes.
Chainsaw Man has so many fans, with Makima and Power being fan-favorite characters in particular. Did that add any pressure to taking the role? Sarah Wiedenheft: See, for me. I'm over here like, “Can I relate to her?” I bathe. I do flush most of the time. I relate to strongly loving cats, but I do relate to humans still. Probably the way she reacts sometimes with Gremlin energy. I think that's the most relatable part is her just like screwing around with people.
