A 25-year-old man and 17-year-old male were injured in the crash in the Ellet neighborhood.
AKRON, Ohio — Two people were thrown through the sunroof of their vehicle after it crashed into a home early Thursday morning in the Ellet neighborhood, police say.
A 17-year-old male in the 2018 Jeep Cherokee was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries after the crash on the 100 block of Hawk Avenue. A 25-year-old man also was taken to a hospital but his condition was unknown, according to police. It’s unclear who was driving the vehicle.
Police say the Jeep was speeding south on Hawk Avenue at about 3 a.m. when it lost control. The Jeep hit a pole, went through a yard, then hit a series of retaining walls before going airborne. The vehicle then hit the front porch of a home. No one inside the home was injured, police say. Police say officers found least four bottles of Promethazine syrup at the crash site and nearly 200 grams of marijuana inside the Jeep.
