Susquehanna Valley K-9 retires after 8 1/2 years with police department

Rex has taken part in hundreds of searches for drugs, firearms and suspects – including escaped prisoner Danilo Cavalcante.

A K-9 with a Dauphin County police department is hanging up the leash.Rex retired after serving with the Lower Paxton Township police for eight and a half years. He will now live with his handler, Cpl. Chad Miller.The German Shepherd has taken part in hundreds of searches for drugs, firearms and suspects.Most recently, Rex helped search for convicted killer Danilo Cavalcante, who was captured two weeks after he escaped from the Chester County Prison.
