Police have declared a crime scene after a suspicious fire destroyed the LUX Nightclub in one of Melbourne’s nightlife hotspots on Thursday morning.
A major fire has destroyed a popular nightclub located on Chapel Street in Melbourne overnight, triggering road closures and smoke warnings for nearby residents.

Picture: NewsWire/ David Crosling “We had to use aerial appliances and to try and manoeuvre those aerial appliances in through those high voltage wires is really dangerous for firefighters but crews were able to do it and at the same time we were able to get that power isolated to make our job at lot safer.”
A section of Chapel Street remains closed to traffic in both directions between the intersections of Toorak Road and Commercial Road.
