According to the Will County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 7:24 a.m., BNSF Police notified deputies of a possible theft at a railroad crossing at Lorenzo and Cottage roads in Wilmington Township. When deputies arrived, they found several people wearing ski masks inside a black van and gray SUV near the train tracks, authorities said.Deputies tried to stop both vehicles, but the drivers fled northbound on Interstate 55. One vehicle was later located near Francis Road and Vine Street in New Lenox, where officers established a perimeter and took one suspect into custody, deputies said. The individual was taken to the hospital for a medical evaluation. According to sheriff's officials, BNSF police were working with the Will County State's Attorney's Office on filing charges.While police conducted a search, residents who live near North Vine Street and Francis Road were asked to stay inside.
