Michael Roman and Michael Alvarado face aggravated murder charges in the death of 19-year-old Johndiel Rivera on Interstate 480. Alvarado worked with the victim at a shipping and handling business.Alvarado and Roman appeared Wednesday morning in Common Pleas Court via teleconference from jail. Judge Nancy Fuerst set their bonds at $1 million each and ordered them to have no contact with the victim’s family.
After the shooting, Rivera’s car hit the concrete median and came to a complete stop. Roman, of Euclid, and Alvarado, of Cleveland, fled the scene but later returned to fire more rounds at Rivera’s vehicle, prosecutors said. In addition to aggravated murder, both suspects face charges of murder, felonious assault and discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises. Roman faces further charges of involuntary manslaughter and having a weapon while under disability.
