Police officers on Oct. 10 caught two suspects accused of attempting to pass thousands of dollars in counterfeit bills, and a third suspect was being sought.

Employees of the Foot Locker store at 5:32 p.m. Oct. 10 called the police department to report that three individuals came into the store and attempted to buy $2,875 worth of footwear and clothing with counterfeit bills. When the store rejected the money, the suspects said they would get a credit card and return to complete the purchase.

Officers also recovered three Body Works shopping bags filled with merchandise that one of the suspects dropped. They learned the suspects were suspected of passing $2,100 in bogus $20 bills at that store, according to a police report. Officers on Oct. 4 responded to the department store, where a loss prevention officer said that a review of closed-circuit security video turned up the theft of items on Sept. 29 from the women’s fragrance counter. Two female suspects were caught on the video.
