Update: Police are investigating a shooting they said may involve high school students in Brighton, with all suspects in custody.
The shooting happened in the area of South 9th Avenue and Bush Street, police said in a 1:09 p.m. Wednesday tweet. The shooting scene is a couple of blocks north of Brighton High School.
The investigation led police to the area of Prairie View High School, where they contacted a vehicle suspected to be involved in the shooting, Domenico said. Two people were arrested in the area of East 120th Avenue and Salem Street, and Prairie View High was placed on lockdown about 12:30 p.m. Other schools in the area were temporarily placed on secure status out of caution, but the secure status was lifted at 2:30 p.m. after Brighton police gave the all-clear for these schools.
“Police are investigating possible student involvement” in the shooting, according to a department tweet, but Domenico could not confirm at the press conference if any of the suspects or the victim were students.
