Armed offender exchanged gunfire with Chicago police officers responding to earlier shooting, CPD officials say
The Chicago Police Department and the Civilian Office of Police Accountability are investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday morning on the city's North Side.
The Chicago Police Department provided am update about the incident at a Saturday afternoon press conference. A 39-year-old victim was shot around 9:35 a.m. as they were walking in the 2600 block of North Farwell Avenue in West Rogers Park, Chicago police said. An armed offender had approached the victim from behind and shot them in the shoulder.
The suspect continued to exchange gunfire with officers over the course of about two minutes, Chicago police officials said.
