There is a developing situation going on Tuesday morning in the area of Old Red Springs Road and Lois Ann Road just outside of the Maxton community
Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said Shawn Tobin Locklear shot the deputies, stole a patrol car and ran over one of the deputy's legs. Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins said his department had been looking for the suspect, identified as Shawn Tobin Locklear, for weeks for removing his electronic monitoring device - and that's why the deputies made contact Tuesday to serve a warrant.
One of the deputies and the suspect are both in critical condition and the other deputy is in serious condition, Wilkins said in a news conference Tuesday afternoon.In the news conference, Sheriff Wilkins said Shawn Locklear was out on bond for a March 2022 robbery and then later. He was again released on bond in May 2023.
She said she sent her friend inside the home to get towels to apply a tourniquet to stop the bleeding for the deputy on the ground.
