A man suspected of an aggravated robbery led police on a chase before a standoff in a Tomball hospital parking garage, resulting in the suspect being shot and injured.
An officer-involved shooting took place in a hospital parking garage in Tomball on Thursday night after police responded to an aggravated robbery call. The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody. Tomball Police Department Chief Jeff Bert says officers responded to an aggravated robbery call around 11:30 p.m. at a high school near 915 Baker Drive. A vehicle matching the description given to officers led police on a brief chase after they attempted to stop them.
Chief Bert said the chase came to an end in the employee parking garage of HCA Tomball at 605 Holdereith Road. A man got out of the vehicle and shot at officers, who returned fire. No one was reported injured from the shooting. According to police, the suspect attempted to run and jumped from one of the upper levels of the parking garage. He landed on the ground below, sustaining significant injuries. HCA Tomball was put on a brief, hour-long lockdown during the incident. Police were able to recover a weapon. It is not confirmed what charges will be filed at this time. Chief Bert says he could face an aggravated robbery charge and they would look at attempted murder charges
