No officers were hurt, according to a post made by the Glendale Police Department on 'X,' formerly known as Twitter.
GLENDALE, Ariz. — Glendale police were involved in a shooting Wednesday afternoon, the city's police department said.
In a news conference Wednesday evening, a spokesperson said police received a report of a male suspect with a gun in the area of 65th Avenue and Sierra Street.Police responded to the area to “make sure everyone was safe” and to make contact with the man. One of the officers was traveling eastbound on Sierra Street. That officer and the suspect crossed paths, facing each other, and the officer then saw the suspect point “what was believed to be a weapon” in his direction.Multiple shots were fired by the officer, according to police.
The suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He is stable and expected to survive, police said.There has been an officer involved shooting near 65th Avenue and Peoria.
