UPDATE: Hours-long standoff in Gilroy ends, barricaded suspect shot by an officer, authorities say.
The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office said a suspect is in custody following hours-long standoff in Gilroy Sunday.Deputies went to a home to conduct a welfare check. That's when deputies said a man inside started shooting.
During the exchange of gunfire, one deputy was hit by a bullet that ricocheted, according to officials. The deputy expected to be OK.During the standoff, the suspect was shot at least once by an officer at a neighboring agency. The suspect was taken to a hospital, where his condition is unknown at this time.No other details have been released.
