Authorities say 19-year-old Daveyonne Howard was out on bond for aggravated robbery at the time of the 11-year-old boy's killing at an apartment complex in northeast Harris County.

On Feb. 3, deputies responded to a shooting at about 7:40 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 12200 block of Tidwell, where they found Darius on the ground.RELATED: Father grieves son who was killed while grabbing jacket in NE Harris County: 'He was a good kid'

Harris County Records show Howard was placed in jail on Feb. 14 on an unrelated robbery threats case. A family member told ABC13 Darius' mother, Brenetta Francis, wanted Friday to be about Darius and the legacy he leaves behind.
