issued for a 12-year-old girl out of Bountiful was taken into custody Sunday morning after crashing into a police vehicle while fleeing from authorities.
Upon arrival, police learned that a 12-year-old girl had been taken by a Hispanic man believed to be in his 20s. The man was reportedly confronted by the girl’s family members before fleeing with her in a white Chevrolet Camaro with no visible license plates, a black hood, and a sticker on its back fin.
Around 8:05 a.m., patrol officers in the area where the abduction occurred spotted a white Camaro matching the description of the suspect vehicle. The driver began operating the vehicle erratically as police began to follow. The driver, a Hispanic man, was arrested at the scene. Officers recovered a Glock 17 handgun from the driver’s floorboard. Police are working to positively identify the suspect before releasing further information.
