Rochester, N.Y. — A 30-year-old man's condition worsened and he was being treated for life-threatening internal injuries Thursday after his vehicle collided with a car being pursued by officers Wednesday, according to Captain Greg Bello from the Rochester Police Department. Police said they stopped an SUV — which they suspected was involved in recent violence — on Sullivan Street just before 7:55 p.m. for not having a front license plate. Officers learned the driver, a 21-year-old man, didn't have a valid license. They then had him sit in the back of a patrol vehicle.Video shared by police shows the man sitting in the back seat, with his legs out of the vehicle, when another car drives by — going the wrong way on a one-way street — and strikes the open door. Officers can be seen scrambling to get out of the way, attempting to close the door, before the car strikes the door and drives away. Bello said police believe the striking vehicle was "involved or associated" with the vehicle that was pulled over.
