Police are working to negotiate with a suspect who is barricaded in his apartment after a series of events on the East Side. SAN ANTONIO - Police are in an ongoing standoff with a suspect after a series of events at an East Side apartment complex .

Police on the scene said that early Monday morning, a resident at an apartment complex near the corner of Dietrich Road and N WW White Road, got into a confrontation with landscapers. The suspect, a male of unknown age, allegedly pulled a machete on the workers, threatening them, before fleeing the area.

The workers reported the incident to police. Officers were able to obtain an arrest warrant for the suspect but were unable to make contact. Around 1:40 p.m., a woman in the complex allegedly crossed paths with the man, who allegedly began to berate her.Neighbors in the complex saw this assault and reportedly attempted to fight off the suspect by throwing rocks and pieces of wood at him.The neighbors fled the scene but were able to see the suspect return to his apartment in the complex.
