A suspect trying to escape police on Highway 101 was arrested after a San Rafael officer used his vehicle to stop the suspect's car against a concrete wall. The incident began when a license plate reader detected a vehicle linked to a felony crime. Police pursued the suspect but discontinued the chase due to safety concerns. The suspect was later spotted by the California Highway Patrol and continued to flee at high speeds, eventually colliding with another car. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody.

A suspect attempting to evade a police pursuit on Highway 101 was apprehended after a San Rafael officer maneuvered his vehicle to block the suspect's car against a concrete wall, according to authorities. The incident unfolded on Monday afternoon near the Sonoma State University campus. A police license plate reader identified a license plate associated with a felony offense committed in Rohnert Park on Saturday, stated San Rafael Police Sergeant Justin Graham.

When Rohnert Park police attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver, later identified as Beck, allegedly rammed an officer's car. Police discontinued the pursuit before Beck entered Highway 101 due to concerns for public safety, Graham explained. The California Highway Patrol located the suspect on Highway 101 and pursued him into San Rafael. Beck drove southbound in the northbound lanes to elude officers near Lucas Valley Road, according to Graham. 'Moments later, an SRPD officer, observing that the vehicle was still traveling at speeds of 50 mph toward stopped motorists, realized the suspect vehicle would likely kill or seriously injure a member of the motoring public,' Graham said. The officer utilized his vehicle to halt Beck's car and disable it. Beck's vehicle collided with another car in the stalled traffic. Beck sustained minor leg injuries during the incident, while the driver of the other vehicle remained uninjured, Graham stated. Beck remained in custody Tuesday at the Sonoma County Jail, where his bail was set at $50,000. An initial court appearance was scheduled for Wednesday morning in Santa Rosa
