Hughes Van Ellis, one of the last three survivors from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre which saw 300 people killed in a riot, has died at age 102 in Denver, family says.

Ellis told CNN earlier this year that he and his family, among many others, had to leave their homes and a “lifetime of opportunities.
