described new details surrounding what Anchorage police have described as a botched robbery which they say resulted in one of their officers shooting the suspect. An employee with Central Market, located inside the Valhalla Center in the 500 block of Northern Lights Boulevard — who declined to give their name or to speak on camera — described to Alaska’s News Source what they say could be seen on store surveillance video. They also described the 911 call which took place at 1:49 p.m.
Tuesday, after a woman from a neighboring business — Day Break Spa — informed them she had escaped while being robbed. A man believed to be the suspect from Tuesday's Midtown officer-involved shooting is seen on surveillance shortly before 2 p.m. on Jan. 7.The Central Market employee said the woman — who police described as a robbery victim — can be seen on surveillance video with her hands and mouth taped. The employee went on to say the footage shows the victim running from the backdoor of Day Break Spa to Central Market’s backdoor at 1:43 p.m. The Central Market employee said they were able to translate for the victim over the phone to the police. The employee explained while they were talking with the 911 operator, police officers arrived at the store. While speaking with police, the employee said two of their co-workers informed police they witnessed — who they believed to be the suspect — exiting the spa’s backdoor. The employee said their co-workers gave police a description of the suspect. It matches the description police gave of the man seen on the video leaving Day Break Spa’s backdoor at 1:50 p.m. The Central Market employee said that shortly after police were given a suspect description, they heard what sounded like roughly six gunshots.According to the Central Market employee, the victim told them the suspect first entered the spa as a custome
