Surprise buy offers pause plans to close Aussie newswire

PLANS to close Australia’s only national newswire are on hold after its management was blindsided by offers to buy the company. Australian Associated Press last month announced that it would close, but in an email to staff today, the management told employees that the plans have been paused while they consider offers to buy the news provider from several suitors.
