A North Belfast woman says that she spent months suffering "the worst pain imaginable" after a surgical swab was left inside her body during an operation in Turkey.
As the weeks progressed, Anne says that she remained in constant pain and found it difficult to move or stand-up and she returned to hospital in January of this year for another scan which showed similar results. In the end, a surgical swab that was used during her surgery in Turkey was found stuck to her stomach and liver.
"After going to the doctors, they found that I had an infection and that scans were showing a shadow over my stomach and liver. "This finally took place in April and I was shocked to discover that a surgical swab had been left inside my body and was stuck to my stomach and liver.
