Fri, March 8th 2024 at 10:21 PMIn recent months, Central Pennsylvania has witnessed a surge in cases of animal abuse.
According to Speranza Animal Rescue, there are a few reasons contributing to the increase in animal cruelty cases. Earlier this week, a Bucks County man living in West Hempfield Township was charged with aggravated cruelty to animals.Thankfully, the cat is expected to make a full recovery.Maurice commented on what solutions animal rescues would like to see, stating, “We want there to be policies and procedures in place where when you do find out about an animal being abused that you know who you can contact because, again, I feel like the public doesn’t know who to contact in those scenarios.
In response to these challenges, Representative Scott Conklin, 77th District, recently introduced HB 1981, which would allow counties to employ humane officers.
