Superman is practically invulnerable to all forms of damage: this makes him one of the most dangerous heroes, but also a surprising kind of protector.

Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT One of Superman's most famous abilities is his invulnerability. It's extremely difficult to hurt Superman through conventional means, and this naturally makes him a nightmare for most villains to deal with. Surprisingly, it also makes him a fantastic secret lair. This was explored in gross detail when a group of villains decided to make their secret villain base right in the middle of the Man of Steel's brain.

This surprising location for a secret base is seen in Action Comics #6 by Grant Morrison, Andy Kubert, John Dell, Brad Anderson, and Patrick Brosseau. This issue features a group of villains having a secret nefarious meeting in the one place Superman would never see: directly inside his brain. Naturally, Clark is a bit concerned about this, but his friends assure him that the villains won't risk expanding inside his brain — for fear of being crushed by his invulnerable brain matter. Still, not wanting villains planning their plots inside his head, he has his allies go in after them, which results in the villains releasing Kryptonite and very nearly killing Clark. But at least they're no longer in his head.

The idea of evading Superman's senses has come up in comics many times over the years. Lex Luthor is most famous for exploiting the weaknesses of Superman's powers with his bases usually employing lead walls and the like. Other characters, such as the Invisible Mafia, tried holding meetings in lead sound-proof containers. But the villains in Action Comics #6 decide to take it a step further and live directly inside of Superman's brain.

Superman Is Poisoned from Within While the villains are eventually chased out by Superman's allies, that they were there at all gave them a massive advantage in several ways. They were in a completely safe place; they were undetectable by most heroes; and they were even able to nearly kill Superman by releasing Kryptonite when they were forced to leave. The only reason they were discovered at all is because one of Superman's allies read the mind of a villain who knew they were in there.
