Wow! Fungus spotters will love these! 👀
The devil’s fingers fungus, known officially as Clathrus archeri, was seen this week at the back of the field off Rucklers Lane Field, near Kings Langley. It is known for its striking appearance and “smells like rotting flesh”, according to Wildlife Trusts. As it grows three or four tentacles splay out and can reach up to 7cm.
Chancelle Maxey, who spotted it, said: “Being a shroom enthusiast I actually shrieked.“I was on a dog walk with a friend and we both couldn’t believe it.She explained they are on private land but there is a public footpath – on the Kings Langley side that backs on to Shendish. She added there were approximately seven there but lots more pods so plenty to come in the next few days.
