A performer who displayed a Palestinian flag during Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl halftime show will not face criminal charges. The NFL has banned the individual from future events.

A performer who displayed a Palestinian flag with the word 'GAZA' during Kendrick Lamar 's Super Bowl halftime show will not face charges, New Orleans police announced on Monday. The banner combined the black stripes of the flags honored by the Sudanese and Palestinian peoples and also had the word 'SUDAN' on it. The performer, one of dozens of dancers wearing identical black sweats, held it high while standing on the roof of a car that was a central element of the hip-hop artist's performance.

They then jumped off the stage and ran across the field before being apprehended by several men in suits. The NFL stated on Sunday that the performer had concealed the flag and that 'no one involved with the production was aware of the individual’s intent.' The league also added that the individual has received a lifetime ban from attending league stadiums and events. It remains unclear whether President Donald Trump, who was present at the game, witnessed the protest. Trump's pronouncements that his administration is dedicated to purchasing and possessing Gaza have been widely repudiated by the Palestinian people, disrupting discussions about the enclave's future.Roc Nation, the entertainment company responsible for producing the halftime show, issued a statement through the NFL affirming that the flag display was not part of the planned performance
