Before the anticipated snow and freezing rain began to fall on Saturday, stores were bustling with people stocking up on last-minute necessities in preparation for the weekend's weather. The double threat of winter weather coinciding with the Philadelphia Eagles ' Super Bowl LIX matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs had Eagles fans flocking to grocery stores, sporting goods stores, and hardware stores to gather supplies for the weekend festivities.
Many individuals were out and about early Saturday, attempting to secure snacks and supplies for Super Bowl LIX while also getting ahead of the impending weather. 'Go Eagles! I’m getting ready for tomorrow! Because we’re having a party and they’re gonna win!' exclaimed Cherry Hill resident Marie Grabon. She was one of numerous Eagles fans converging on stores to acquire everything they needed for the big game, including some snow-related supplies before the bad weather hit. Michele, another shopper, shared her list: 'Just one bag of salt because I have some at home already and a vegetable tray because I’m going to one of my friend’s tomorrow. I wanted to come out early and beat the crowd!''Yes, I hear the snow is coming, so it’s the last of it,' said Mark Johnson. 'I was here all last night, so just pick up the rest of the things today.' 'Just the stuff you forgot?' inquired FOX 29’s Ellen Kolodziej. 'Exactly!' Johnson replied. 'My wife was like, ‘You gotta get some more chips!’ I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll get some more chips!’' 'I’m happy with my Eagles! Go Birds!' exclaimed Lorraine Johnson. Over at Dick’s Sporting Goods, the green Eagles merchandise was flying off the shelves. Johnson added, 'I got me a Hurts jersey. I love Hurts! And, some matching sneaks to go with!' Sean Ekstrand, of Fishtown, elaborated on his shopping choices, 'Yeah, I’m getting this hat today because I kinda like the retro design of it and I became an Eagles fan because I moved to Philly five or six years ago. Originally from Oakland, California. They took all my teams away, so I was orphaned and became an Eagles fan.' The enthusiasm wasn't limited to clothing. Eileen Moughan, of Collings Lake, stated, 'Oh I wanted to get a program and that’s why I went online and they said Dick’s had it so I came here for the program! Go Birds absolutely!' It was a cool $20 but well worth it, she says, to remember Super Bowl LIX. Most fans wholeheartedly agree.
