A Camden County school district in New Jersey is opening all three of its public schools late on the Monday after the Super Bowl so students and staff can have time to recover from watching the game. Superintendent Sean Gorman said the district wants to allow families to enjoy the special event and still attend school the next day safely and well-rested.

The Eagles are scheduled to play the Kansas City Chiefs on Super Bowl Sunday starting at 6:30 p.m. The game usually ends around 10 p.m. Students in grades K-3 attend the Cold Springs School, which will have a 10:15 a.m. start on the morning after the Super Bowl. Students in grades 4-8 at Gloucester City Middle School will report at 9:53 a.m., according to the district’s website., each school district can make its own decisions about when to open late or send students home early. Delayed openings still count toward New Jersey’s requirement that schools hold at least 180 days of classes each school year.
