Team USA gymnasts Suni Lee and Jordan Chiles join TODAY with medals around their necks to talk about their wins at the Paris Olympics with more events still to come. They also open up about the lighter moments from the Games, including making viral TikTok videos and seeing celebrities in the stands.
What’s that saying about imitation being the sincerest form of flattery? Team USA gymnast Suni Lee — fresh off winning the bronze medal in the individual all-around competition at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris — busted out a gold-winning impression of TODAY’s Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie when she stopped by the show, along with teammate Jordan Chiles, on Aug. 2. At the end of the interview, Lee and Chiles mentioned how they notice Hoda and Savannah while competing.
That prompted Lee to raise her arms in the air and issue a mock cheer in imitation of Hoda and Savannah while watching Team USA during their medal-winning competitions, including when they won gold in the team competition on July 30. They were also on hand during the individual competition on Aug. 1, when Simone Biles won gold, while Lee, who won gold in the event in 2021 at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, took bronze.
