Prior doc director Tabitha Jackson ran the program for six years before being named the director of the Sundance Film Festival.

Veteran filmmaker and lecturer Carrie Lozano has been tapped as Sundance's new documentary film program director.

The director joins the Sundance Institute from the International Documentary Association’s Enterprise Documentary Fund, where she co-founded and oversaw the program. She currently lectures at Berkeley’s Graduate School of Journalism, and she's held previous roles at Bay Area Video Coalition’s National MediaMaker Fellowship and Al Jazeera America., with previous nonfiction projects that she has directed or produced premiering at the Sundance Film Festival.
