Summit County has created the Summit Health and Safety Innovation Fund of the Akron Community Foundation to respond to new and emerging health and safety concerns.
AKRON, Ohio – Summit County this week announced the creation of the Summit Health and Safety Innovation Fund to respond to new and emerging health and safety concerns.
The fund was created to support innovative approaches to improve health and safety outcomes for county residents. The goal is to attract other funding partners to further bolster the fund. The fund will be permanently endowed and invested according to Akron Community Foundation’s investment policy, which focuses on minimizing risk and maximizing grant distributions while promoting long-term growth, according to the release.
Though the fund exists at the Akron Community Foundation, it will operate as its own Ohio nonprofit corporation, with a board of directors that will manage the organization and its grantmaking. The board will have 13 members . Board members will offer fiduciary expertise and be subject matter experts in the areas of substance use, mental health and public safety, according to the release.
