Summer Creek's Jorynn Ross , pictured earlier this season, stepped up Tuesday with her team in foul trouble to help clinch another trip to the regional tournament.FRIENDSWOOD — Jorynn Ross was prepared to help No. 2 Summer Creek out Tuesday night.
Ross scored 14 points as Summer Creek defeated Shadow Creek 55-45 to advance to the Region III-6A tournament. Summer Creek will play Dulles, which beat Tompkins in overtime Tuesday, at 7:30 p.m. Friday in a Region III-6A semifinal at the Merrell Center in Katy. The Lady Bulldogs’ defense set the tone in the second quarter as Summer Creek outscored Shadow Creek 17-2.“That really opened it up for us,” said Dixon of the second quarter. “It was the lead to pull away. We knew it wasn’t going to be over. I watched them play the other day and they were down 22-1 so I knew they were going to make a run. That lead for us was definitely key.”Dixon has told her team that they are capable of scoring and playing great defense without Duhon, their best player.
