Camp CAMP posted Thursday morning and said everyone at the camp is safe and sheltering in place. The camp said continued rain has flooded Skyline Drive, forcing the road to close, and travel to the area is not safe. Officials said the camp sits on a ridge more than 80 feet above the river, all cabins are dry and campers and staff have enough food and supplies.
The camp said it is in contact with Kerr County Emergency Management and the Texas Division of Emergency Management. The camp said roads leading to camp have flooded and urged parents not to try to pick up their children because it could put them and their campers in danger. The camp said campers are not panicking and will follow a rainy-day schedule with breakfast and indoor activities.
Camp La Junta says they have not evacuated, are safe, and are keeping in touch with parents. Camp Stewart also said its campers and counselors are doing well. Other camps posted updates Wednesday, with some asking for prayers and others sharing videos while saying they were continuing to monitor conditions. Video from Kerrville on Thursday morning showed the Guadalupe River moving quickly and overtaking some trees.

The sheriff’s office said Kerr County Emergency Management reported 3 to 6 inches of rain had already fallen by 3 a.m., with rainfall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour expected to continue. Officials said flash flooding was already occurring, with evacuations, escalating water rescues and water beginning to enter structures. Rises were also expected along the Guadalupe River.
