Suits L.A.’s New Private Investigator Could Rectify An Original Show Oversight The prospect of having a recurring private investigator digging up dirt on clients and their legal opponents provides Suits L.A. the potential to make up for a missed opportunity from the original show. Known only as Vanessa, Preacher’s Julie Ann Emery first joined the Suits cast in the 2011 pilot episode as Harvey Specter’s personal investigator. Playfully referred to by the James Bond characters Moneypenny and Pussy Galore, the chemistry and banter between Emery’s Vanessa and Gabriel Macht's Harvey hinted at a long and storied history that could have been fleshed out far more than it ever was.
