Dr Lee Boon Chye says public health screenings can be organised through a collaboration between the health ministry, government health clinics and resident associations.
Loo said a National Health and Morbidity Survey conducted in 2019 showed that almost one in five Malaysians live with diabetes. Despite the imposition of the sugar tax four years ago, a Health White Paper published in June this year claimed that diabetes and obesity are still among the leading causes of death in the country.
