The Sugar Bowl , a College Football Playoff quarterfinal game between Georgia and Notre Dame, has been postponed by one day until Thursday following a deadly attack on Bourbon Street in New Orleans . A 42-year-old Texas man, identified as Shamsud-Din Jabbar, drove a pickup truck into a crowd celebrating New Year's Day in the French Quarter before opening fire on police. At least 10 people were killed and 35 injured.
The FBI confirmed an ISIS flag was found in the truck and is investigating potential ties to terrorist organizations. Officials for the Sugar Bowl didn't immediately respond to a request for comment. Jeff Hundley, Sugar Bowl committee CEO, said, 'It's in the best interest of everybody and public safety that we postpone.' He added, 'The Sugar Bowl Committee is devastated by the terrible events from early this morning. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families.'Hundley said the committee was in discussions with local, state and federal authorities before making the decision
