The former senior civil servant is being investigated after it emerged she had been offered a job to work as Sir Keir Starmer’s chief of staff despite being a civil servant. A written ministerial statement from Chancellor of Duchy Oliver Dowden updating MPs with the latest on the inquiry revealed that Ms Gray refused to engage with the probe.
“This process has involved interviewing relevant persons to establish further details on the contact between Ms Gray and the Leader of the Opposition,” Mr Dowden says. “I can update the House that Ms Gray was given the opportunity to make representations as part of this process but chose not to do so.”
