to San Antonio’s wallet-friendly brews, with Houston somewhere in the middle, according to a recent survey of the costs for a night out in the largest U.S. cities.determined and ranked the cost of a night out in all U.S. cities with a higher than 500,000 population. The rankings took into account the average price of a cocktail, a bottle of wine, a pint of beer, the cab fare for a three-mile trip and a stay at a budget hotel at each location.
Texas's major cities appeared on opposite ends in the survey results. Austin ranked third among the top 10 most expensive cities for a night out, with a total cost of $221.23. Houston came in ninth at $209.54. Meanwhile, San Antonio was the second most affordable city, costing only $134.56 for an evening out.
Dallas is home to the country's most expensive cocktails, at $25.00 each. San Antonio offers the cheapest beers and cocktails, with a pint of beer costing $3.27, and the most affordable cocktails, priced at $8.00. Despite Dallas' high cocktail prices, the city didn't make the overall most expensive list due to factors such as the cheapest cab fares in the US, with a three-mile journey costing only $5.41.
“When planning a fun night out with your friends, the last thing you want to worry about is spending too much money,” a spokesperson at PriceListo said in a statement. “This study can help guide those trying to tighten their purse strings in the right direction when enjoying a night out with their friends.”Other notable cities on the list include Charlotte, N.C., ranking as the second most expensive city for a night out at $224.75, and San Francisco, where a pint of beer costs an average of $9.
On the more affordable side, Las Vegas is the cheapest city for a night out, costing only $120.76, largely due to its budget-friendly hotel rates, with a median price of $62.73 for a one-night stay. Other budget-conscious options include Oklahoma City, with a total cost of $136.98, and Fresno, Calif., where a night out will set you back $145.55.
