The study showed that 20% of Ohio and Kentucky high school students vape, while the national average is just 10%.
FRANKLIN, Ohio - The number of Ohio and Kentucky high school students who vape is double the national average , according to new data from the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids.
They said that in order for parents to have those conversations, they should understand the risks of vaping. The ALA said that kids who vape are four times more likely to try a traditional cigarette and three times more likely to become addicted to nicotine. Franklin High School Principal Lori Limon said that they used to have vape detectors in the bathrooms at the former high school. In their new building, they have a staff member monitoring every bathroom between every class period in hopes of preventing vaping. Limon said she noticed an increase in vaping among students after the pandemic.
